Welcome to our production of the Nutcracker. Our goal is to foster a comfortable and safe environment in which young people will ideally gain an appreciation and love of the arts. We are process-oriented rather than product-targeted. This is not an individual “star” program, as we believe that theatre is a collaborative artistic environment. All children in the production are valuable to the process, whether they have two lines or twenty.

Nutcracker Parent Information
Registration and Cost: Nutcracker has been sponsored by the City of Fernley and will be FREE to all participants. OPTIONAL Nutcracker T-shirts may be purchased for $12 (order forms are attached).
May I quit if I do not like the role I have received? Yes, but it may affect future casting decisions in later plays. We would like to discourage performers from quitting if they don’t get the role they like because we feel that every role is important, and the experience of being involved in the production is more important than getting the lead. Also, many times a role you didn’t really want may surprise you and be more fun than you ever dreamed.
What to bring. We work really hard, so we recommend lots of water!
Appropriate Attire: Pants, shorts, t-shirts, athletic shoes, or dance shoes are appropriate. Please no open-toed shoes or bare feet.
Open Rehearsals: All parents are welcome to stay during any rehearsals, but we ask that you try to be as quiet as possible so the participants can concentrate. If you have small children, please bring a quiet activity for them.
Rehearsal Schedule: See attached. We may require additional rehearsals towards the end, but will let you know in advance.
Volunteering: Parents are not required to volunteer, but if you would like to, your assistance will be greatly appreciated! We need help with set building, costumes, bake sale and ticket sales. Please let me know if you are willing to volunteer.
Fundraising: We will be selling chocolate Nutcrackers and Nutcracker ornaments. Please assist as best you can, to keep the program affordable to all!
Advertisements: We will be selling advertisements for our program. If your company is interested in advertising, please let me know. Love notes will also be printed and are a great way to show your encouragement for your child. The cost for Love notes is $5.
Ticket Sales: Tickets are available for purchase for $5 in advance or $7.00 at the door. Please see me to purchase your tickets, they will also be available at each rehearsal.
